# What Is GPUnity?

GPUnity is a **decentralised marketplace** designed to transform how the world accesses and utilises GPU power.

Across the globe, millions of powerful graphics cards sit idle. At the same time, demand for compute in **AI, rendering, and high-performance workloads** is growing at an unprecedented pace. This mismatch between unused supply and overwhelming demand is what GPUnity was created to solve.

#### The Core Idea

* **GPU Providers** can rent out their idle hardware and earn income.
* **Builders, developers, and researchers** gain affordable, scalable compute resources on demand.

This creates an open ecosystem where incentives are aligned, trust is built into the system, and resources flow efficiently.

***

GPUnity is a **unified global network of GPUs**.

By aggregating scattered, underutilised hardware, GPUnity makes compute power accessible in the same way decentralized finance (DeFi) made capital accessible. No central authority, no artificial barriers, just direct peer-to-peer participation.
